James attached to the champion trainer Nicky Henderson's stable, James also rides for us. Aged just 16, he became the youngest ever jockey to ride the winner of the Welsh Grand National in 2018 on his way to becoming the youngest ever Champion Conditional Jockey, taking the record from older brother Sean.
These successes brought James the same two coveted "Lesters" in 2018 that brother Sean had won in 2015, and was named as BBC Wales Young Sportsman of the Year; he was also in the final three for the BBC national award. Coming up via pony racing, James rode his first winner with his first ride in points when barely 16 years of age. Swiftly joining the professional ranks he rode 57 winners in his first season, and is rising rapidly up the ranks of leading jockeys in the UK, recently riding his 100th career winner.
